Be Low Maintenance
June 4, 2023

As a manager, here’s my advice to all my team members: Be Low Maintenance.
What does being low maintenance mean?
- Be as independent as you can be in completing tasks assigned to you.
- Seek answers and solutions on your own if you can, without your supervisor telling you what to do.
- Deliver high-quality work without needing your supervisor to tell you what it means.
- Try to solve your own interpersonal issues without your supervisor having to bat for you.
- Minimize seeking feedback and validation about the work you do.
- Refrain from frequently(e.g., every month) discussing salary raises or career growth.
You will be your manager’s hero If he/she can count on you to come in and do your job with little hand-holding.
