A young monk struggled to meditate, distracted by the creaking floorboards of the monastery. Frustrated, he avoided the meditation hall altogether and spent his days tending to the garden instead. One evening, his master asked why he no longer joined the others.
“I have a problem .The creaking disturbs my peace,” the monk admitted.
The master smiled and said, “Tonight, meditate under the stars.” Relieved, the monk agreed.
As he sat in the silence, the wind began howling, the leaves rustling wildly. His thoughts scattered.
The master appeared behind him and whispered, “The sound is never the problem. It’s where you refuse to sit. The answer is in the problem you avoid!!”
