Weekend Story-What She Said

what she said

A couple moved to a small town and began visiting the local library.

The librarian was distant. She barely looked up, offered little help, and seemed annoyed whenever they asked for anything.

One afternoon, the woman complained about the librarian to a neighbour.

“The service is terrible,” she said. “Someone should tell her.”

A few days later, she returned to the library.

The librarian smiled when she entered.

“I kept this novel aside for you,” she said. “And I found a biography your husband might enjoy.”

She helped her choose two more books and asked her to return soon.

Puzzled, the woman went straight to her neighbour.

“You spoke to her, didn’t you?”

“I did.”

“So you told her what I said?”

The neighbour shook her head.

“I told her your husband was impressed by what she had built in such a small town. And that you thought she had wonderful taste in books.”
