We waste too much time worrying about decisions that don’t really matter – trying to get every small decision right.
The real power lies in making a choice and seeing what happens- to be able to see that link between decision and outcome. But for this to work, you have to set up a situation such that if something does go wrong, it’s fixable and manageable and doesn’t cost you too much. It’s important to remember that when you get stuck in situations where you cannot afford to make a mistake (when the stakes are too high), it’s very hard to do the right thing.
Instead of stressing over getting the decision right, a smarter approach would be to focus on lowering the cost of mistakes. That way, you can learn and adjust without fear of failure.
