There are two ways to measure how you’re doing—internally or externally.
I am sure every one of us has had moments when we’re feeling good about our progress, only to scroll through LinkedIn or hear someone else’s story and suddenly feel behind. That’s external measurement creeping in—comparison dressed up as motivation.
I’ve found that I make the best progress when I define success on my terms—Did I show up better than yesterday? Did I follow through on what I said I would do?
That kind of measurement keeps me focused, grounded, and growing.
Comparison, on the other hand, only distracts.
So the next time you’re wondering how you’re doing, don’t look around. Look within.
