Do Not Pay Twice

One thing I have learned about worry is that it often makes us pay for a problem before it arrives.

A difficult meeting next week. A decision still unresolved. Something that might go wrong.

Thinking about it once may help us prepare. Thinking about it repeatedly usually does not.

Preparation asks, What can I do now?

Worry keeps asking the question even when there is nothing more to do.

If the problem eventually arrives, we deal with it then. If it does not, all that anxiety was for something that never happened.

Prepare well. Take whatever action you can.

Then leave the future where it belongs.

There is little value in suffering a problem before it exists.
