Uncomfortable Truths

When some agenda at work is not going to plan, we find solace in focusing on the typical visible issues like bad planning, tight deadlines or team capacity. But often, the real problem lies deeper—like unclear goals or lack of ownership and sometimes incompetence of some people.

Instead of addressing the discomfort of a difficult conversation or rethinking processes, we focus on easy fixes, like adding more resources or pushing people to work harder. While familiar, these solutions rarely solve the real issue.

It’s not easy, but real progress happens when we go beyond business-as-usual and deal with the uncomfortable- having tough conversations, willing to accept being wrong or making changes that could threaten the comfort of a few people. The path may feel risky, but it’s in confronting the uncomfortable that genuine solutions—and lasting impact—are found.
