Weekend Story-Stonecutter’s Ego

Stonecutter's Ego

Once upon a time, there was a stonecutter who was unhappy with his life.

One day, he saw a wealthy merchant passing by and wished to experience the same prosperity. Suddenly, a kind angel appeared and granted his wish.

As the stonecutter enjoyed his newfound wealth, he saw a king parading in grandeur and became envious of his power and influence. Once again, the angel granted his wish, and he became a king.

As a king, he felt powerful until he saw the sun shining brightly, unaffected by his power. Wishing to have the power of the sun, he became the sun. Yet, he felt defeated when a cloud covered him, so he wished to become a cloud.

As a cloud, he felt powerful again until he realized that the wind could push him around. So, he wished to become the wind. But when he saw a mountain standing firm against his gusts, he wished to become a mountain.

Finally, as a mountain, he felt unbeatable until a stonecutter came and started chiseling away at him. Finally, realizing the true power of a stonecutter, he wished to become one again.

The angel granted his wish, and he became a stonecutter once again, finally content with his life.
