Helping folks with practical tips to manage themselves better

Make The Call

A colleague was recently stuck.

He was working on a new incentive proposal — one designed to push the team toward a very different way of operating.

It challenged the usual cadence, demanded sharper prioritization, and came with some risk.

His worry: “What if this doesn’t go down well with the team?”

I’ve seen this play out before.

We freeze not because the decision is hard, but because we are afraid of how it might land.

Especially with people decisions, we imagine the worst.

My mantra to my colleague was: ‘Make the call.’ If it doesn’t work, we learn, adapt, unwind. Simple.

In my experience, I’ve rarely regretted taking a decision.

Almost every regret I carry is from waiting too long to take one.

Overthinking is exhausting. Don’t aim for perfect……aim for progress.

You won’t think your way into a perfect outcome.

You’ll get there by moving.

Just make the call. Then make the next one.
