Trust Me !!
April 2, 2024
I often come across people who use phrases like “Trust me” or “Believe me” in an attempt to gain the confidence of others. However, I wonder if anyone would really trust what someone says just because they preface what they say with “Trust me”?
Trust is not something that anyone can demand of others. It’s earned by demonstrating clear intentions, committing actions aligned with our words, and demonstrating integrity. Most importantly, Trust happens incrementally, one interaction at a time.
My suggestion for those who frequently use the phrase “trust me” is to refrain from using it as much as possible. If someone already trusts you, they will believe in your competence regardless of whether you use the phrase or not. But if you haven’t done enough to gain the other person’s Trust, saying “trust me” may have the opposite effect. Instead of building Trust, it may create doubt in the other person’s mind.

I think its just a manner of speech for some.
Agree…my observation it is a redundant turn of phrase that does not add any value but can certainly alert the other person if one is disingenuous..
