Weekend Story- Check First Before Doing

Check first

When forest fires were raging during the California summer, an editor asked his news photographer to capture some aerial shots of the fires.

The photographer immediately called the local airport to charter a small aircraft to fly him over the area where the fires were raging. The operator on the other side said that a twin-engine plane would be waiting for him at the airport, ready to take off, as soon as he arrived.

The photographer arrived at the airport and spotted the twin-engine aircraft warming up outside the hangar. He immediately got onto the aircraft, slammed the door shut, and shouted over the din of the running engines- “let’s go.”

The pilot did as he was instructed. He immediately taxied the plane onto the runway and took off.

Once in the air, the photographer said to the pilot, “Can you please fly over the valley and make low passes around the area where the fires are raging. I want to take some pictures of the fires on the hillsides.

“Why?” asked the pilot.

“What do you mean why? Because I’m a photographer for the News Channel,” the photographer responded, “and I need to get some close-up shots urgently.”

The pilot went pale and, after a few moments, stammered….“So, what you’re telling me, is . . . You’re NOT my flight instructor?
