Helping folks with practical tips to manage themselves better

You Are Never “Ready”

You are never ready

I was in a business conversation with a client this afternoon, and we were both grappling with issues in delivering a technical solution on time. The critical issue was that the users on the client side and engineering teams on our side were trying to perfect the solution, hoping to eliminate all the critical and non-critical issues, leading to significant delays in the execution of the overall solution.

I had a strong opinion regarding how we should execute the project. Could we not immediately get the project on stream and work on solving the minor issues as we go rather than attempting to resolve everything upfront?

In making this point, an image came to mind that captured the essence of the message I wanted to convey. I had it stored in my phone’s photo library. I extracted the photo and showed it to my client. It was apparent from his expression, he understood the point I was trying to convey.

It was this image that I had downloaded from one of my LinkedIn feeds a few days back.

Sometimes, it feels like we should keep delaying and procrastinating- assuming we are not ready yet. The consequece- very little progress happens. A point this image so beautifully conveys.

Perfection is a myth.

You are never “ready” for what you have to do. You just do it and in the process get ready !!
