Intentions Vs Actions

Intentions

There is a saying – the road to hell is paved with good intentions.

The expression is a metaphor that implies that having good intentions alone is insufficient to ensure good outcomes. Therefore, it’s important to back our intentions with the right actions.

Unfortunately, we tend to judge ourselves by our intentions, while the rest of the world judges us by our actions.

I am committed to achieving my goals.
I want to spend more time with my family.
I want to invest in developing my skills.
I am a team player.

These are all intentions.

If the actions you take do not reflect the intensity of your intention, then you will always see a gap between the outcome and your intention. In addition, you will experience a great deal of dissatisfaction- because you judge yourself on your good intentions, while everyone around judges you on your actions.
