Know Your Quality

When you’re a carpenter making a beautiful chest of drawers, you’re not going to use a piece of plywood on the back, even though it faces the wall and nobody will ever see it. You’ll know it’s there, so you’re going to use a beautiful piece of wood on the back. For you to sleep well at night, the aesthetic, the quality, has to be carried all the way through.

These are the words of Steve Jobs. Very beautiful indeed.

The bottom line is this- If you care about your work, you’ll do your best even when you don’t have to. Because as far as you are concerned, you have to DO IT- For your own satisfaction and peace of mind.

Putting in high-quality work is a matter of attitude more than competence. Once you have an internal yearning to give your best at anything you do, you will build your skills and capability to keep pace with your desire for quality.
