Weekend Story- The Three Servants

In a bygone era, a wealthy merchant prepared for a long voyage. Before setting sail, he summoned three of his most trusted servants. Knowing their strengths, he entrusted each with a “talent,” a fortune that could change lives.

To his most enterprising servant, he offered five talents. “Invest these wisely,” he instructed, “for I expect a return upon my arrival.”

The second servant, known for his steady hand, received two talents. “Use these well,” the merchant advised, “and they will surely grow.”

The last servant, though loyal, was timid. Still, the merchant offered him a single talent. “Let it not be a burden,” he said gently, “but a seed to sow good fortune.”

With a final wave, the merchant departed, leaving his servants to manage his affairs. Years passed by, the sun rising and setting on their labors.

The first, a whirlwind in the marketplace, turned his five talents into ten through daring deals. The second, cautious but constant, doubled his with careful investments. The last, however, crippled by fear, buried his single talent beneath the earth.

Finally, the sails of the master’s ship billowed on the horizon. The servants, hearts pounding, awaited his judgment. The first, brimming with pride, presented his ten talents. The master, beaming, declared, “Well done, a true steward!”

The second, voice trembling with respect, offered his doubled talents. The master, pleased, echoed the praise.

The last, head hung low, unearthed his single talent. “Master,” he stammered, “I feared…” The master’s face hardened. These weren’t meant to be buried treasures, he roared, but seeds to be sown!!

The merchant took away the one talent, a symbol of unused potential, and gave it to the most fruitful servant.
