Build What Lasts
October 27, 2026
Long-term thinking changes what you do today.
I see this clearly in client work.
If the objective is simply to get through the next meeting, you may choose the quickest answer. If the objective is to get a project live, you may accept a shortcut. If the objective is to build a client relationship that should last for years, you make different decisions.
You start asking harder questions upfront. You worry more about whether the solution will scale. You are more careful about what you promise. You invest in things the customer may not notice immediately, but will matter later.
Time horizon changes the behaviour.
Short-term thinking asks, how do we get this done?
Long-term thinking asks, will we still be proud of this decision when we are living with its consequences a year from now?
Build for that.
