Weekend Story-The Weighing Stone
November 8, 2026
A grain merchant used a weighing stone slightly lighter than the standard, so that every customer received a little more than they paid for.
His son, taking over, replaced it with an accurate one and showed his father the arithmetic. Forty years of loss, down to the rupee.
The father agreed the figures were correct.
Within a year, the queue outside had shortened, and nobody could say exactly why.
