Own My Growth

Helping folks with practical tips to manage themselves better

Grow With Experience

There is always this tendency to say that experience is a great teacher that helps one grow.

I think that is not true.

For example, a doctor with 20 years of experience does not necessarily have to be better than a doctor with say 5 years of experience.

Experience in itself does not result in any form of personal growth. What is required is the instinct to reflect on the experience mindfully and deliberately, to take out  lessons that we can act upon and improve.

Why did this happen?

How did this happen?

What can I learn from this experience?

What can I do or what must I do, the next time I encounter a similar situation?

We need to to make experience count, by asking the important questions and drawing out the important lessons.
