Weekend Story- Becoming

A caterpillar sat at the edge of a leaf, watching a butterfly drift across the garden.
“How does one become like you?” she called out.
The butterfly settled gently beside her.
“You must want to fly so much,” it said, “that you are willing to give up being a caterpillar.”
The caterpillar was quiet for a long time.
Flying, she had always wanted. It was the giving up she had never considered.
