Trust and credibility

A young colleague recently asked me for tips on being more persuasive. He mentioned that colleagues at the workplace don’t take him seriously whenever he says something. “What must I do?” was his question to me.

It is not very easy to give advice or feedback without knowing all the details. So without going into anything long-winded, I shared just one point, which is critical to be effectively persuasive.

For anyone, the source of all power to persuade comes from the credibility they enjoy with their colleagues. When you build trust and credibility within your workplace, people will be willing and ready to give you a fair hearing. Work on that.
