Persistence- A Powerful Attribute

persistence

I am in the business of selling cutting-edge and innovative technology solutions to banking and insurance enterprises—many who know how the Fintech industry works would attest that the line of business is highly target-oriented.

My team and I deal with the daily pressure of delivering to lofty sales goals we have set up for ourselves.

Through the experience of the last four years, I have learned that the only way to succeed in high-pressure, result-oriented environments is to operate with oodles of persistence.

What is persistence in a sales and marketing context?

Even after one has given 100%, when sales deals don’t work out, or a client turns you down, or you miss your month-end goal, you don’t let the disappointment faze you. Instead, you still get to work the next day with a smile on your face and start afresh, looking at the problems the clients are grappling with and trying to solve them using different approaches.

My favorite, Seth Godin, defines it brilliantly in a 2008 blog titled Persistence.

“Persistence isn’t using the same tactics over and over. That’s just annoying. Persistence is having the same goal over and over.”

Not just in sales- persistence is a powerful attribute for being successful in any pursuit.
