Don’t Let The Last One Decide

A bad outcome often does more damage through the decisions that follow it than through the original mistake itself.
We make one poor call, then defend it because we have already invested too much.
A deal goes wrong, and we become overly cautious about the next one.
Someone disappoints us, and we start treating every similar situation with suspicion.
The past begins making decisions for the present.
I have learned to ask myself a simple question. If I were seeing this situation for the first time today, knowing what I know now, what would I do?
Because every decision is a new decision.
We know more. We have lived more. We have more choices.
The mistake has already happened.
The next one does not have to follow from it.
