Helping folks with practical tips to manage themselves better

Leading Vs Managing

leading

The mindset with which you approach any task or opportunity determines the outcomes you produce.

If you choose to manage a task, it’s pretty safe. As the person managing the job, you report. You report on what’s happening, you chronicle the results, and you are just a middleman.

If, on the other hand, you choose to lead, you’re on the hook. You are committing to an active engagement, defining the outcomes you want, and taking responsibility for dealing with the issues and delivering. It’s on you.

Leading requires a level of commitment that’s absent from someone who is managing. The approach makes all the difference. So, who would you rather be, someone who is managing or someone who is leading?
