Intentions Alone Don’t Matter
December 31, 2025
All of us carry good intentions. We know what we should do. We even feel good about having those intentions. But most days, they remain just that—intentions.
One of mine is clear. I know I’m good at helping others. Listening. Coaching. Guiding. Helping someone move closer to something that matters to them. I’ve seen how much meaning that creates—for them, and for me.
And yet, I don’t do it enough.
The intention is there. The belief is there. What’s missing is commitment. I let my own work, my own goals, my own urgency crowd it out. Not deliberately. Just consistently enough for it to slip into the background.
As the year comes to an end, this feels like an honest thing to admit.
Meaning doesn’t come from what we care about in theory. It comes from what we show up for in practice.
As this year comes to an end, I’m reminded that intention alone doesn’t create meaning. Action does. Matching action to your intentions.
That’s something I want to do better. I am reminded of this quote….The smallest of actions is always better than the noblest of intentions!!

Intentions are like seeds which must be nurtured into plants by watering them and providing it nutrients to grow !
