Weekend Story-The Credit Test
January 18, 2026
When Jia’s patent was approved, she became the most talked-about mind in the company overnight. Recognition followed. So did expectation. People assumed ego would arrive next.
It didn’t.
In meetings, she did something quietly consistent. When praise came her way, she redirected it.
“That part was Luis.”
“That fix was Elena.”
“That test was Noor.”
Some thought it was politics. It wasn’t.
Jia understood something many capable people miss. Authority becomes toxic when it hoards credit. It earns trust when it shares it. People don’t push back against power when they feel seen inside it.
Years later, everyone still wanted to work with Jia. Not because she was brilliant. Plenty of people were. They chose her because being around her felt safe.
