Less Self, Less Fear

This focus on the self is the real source of fear. The more the ego tries to protect its image, the heavier fear feels. Fear feeds on self-importance, not reality.
So the shift is not positive thinking. It is a change of question. Replace “How do I look?” with “What is required here?” Replace “What if I fail” with “What is the next right step?”
Let the ego sit in the back seat. It can come along for the ride, but it cannot drive.
Fear fades when the task becomes more important than the self.
