Solver Or Spotter?
August 6, 2026
In any situation, people tend to approach problems in one of two ways.
One asks, “How do we solve for this?”
The other is brilliant at explaining everything that is wrong, every risk, every flaw, every reason it may not work. Listen to them and you may be impressed. They often see the problems more clearly than anyone else in the room.
But ask, “So what should we do?” and the conversation stalls.
Their mind has been trained to identify problems, not work through them. For them, diagnosis is the entire journey, rather than the starting point.
Both approaches must eventually face reality. But one looks for a way through. The other remains stuck describing the obstacle.
Progress does not come from having no problems.
It comes from being willing to solve the real ones.
Be a problem solver, not merely a problem spotter.
