Weekend Story-The Family Treasure

Treasure

Four young men sit by the bedside of their dying father. The old man, with his last breath, tells them that there is a huge treasure buried in the family fields. The sons crowd around the dying man crying, ” Where, Where?” but it is too late. The father passes on.

The day after the funeral and for many days to come, the four brothers go out with their picks and shovels and turn the soil, digging deeply into the ground from one end of each field to the other. They find nothing and, bitterly disappointed, abandon the search.

The next season the farm has its best harvest ever.

This is a story that I picked up from one of my all-time favorite books, The Art Of Possibility. The Author Benjamin Zander relays this parable to describe the gifts the universe bestows on us if we show up seeking a treasure in everything we do. We may not always get the treasure in the form or shape we expect, but the universe will consistently deliver in abundance. We just have to believe in the possibility of the treasure !!
