Retirement-A New Perspective

Retirement

There is an interesting quote that says- If you do something you love doing and you won’t have to work a single day in your life.

When I was young, I had this romantic notion that I would like to retire when I turned fifty. I am today on the other side of fifty, and I don’t want to retire- at least in the traditional sense of what retirement implies- retiring from doing any work for pay.

I recently came across a blog post that pointed me to a more current perspective on retirement.

Retirement does not mean you stop working. It means you work at what interests you and what you care about, and if you get paid for it- brilliant.

Retirement means you stop always trying to climb up the career ladder and enjoy being on the rung.

Retirement means that actively contribute to society and you fully develop yourself.

Retirement means that you have the freedom to take vacations, breaks, and time with your family.

Retirement means you can take full satisfaction in what you have done in your life, even if you are only 22 years of age!

The big takeaway is that work and life are not two different things – if you do work that you love, boundaries between work and life fade away. Work becomes passion made visible !!

Retirement means loving what you do.
