Develop A Love For Learning

Parents often ask me what careers their kids should pursue based on emerging work and business-related trends.

My advice?

Forget the old way where our parents told us what to study (This made education feel like a chore and a right of passage to get to the workplace).

Instead of pushing our kids into specific fields, we must look to inspire in them a love for learning. Whether it’s art, music, engineering, or agriculture, the key is for children to understand that education is a lifelong endeavor, and they must be ready to learn and reinvent themselves constantly.

When kids learn to learn independently, they naturally develop confidence and expand their thinking. They begin to see connections between different domains. Most importantly, self-directed learning moves the focus of their attention inward. They develop the resilience to deal with challenges on their own.

When kids develop a love for learning and make it a lifelong habit, they have the DNA to succeed in the future, no matter the circumstances.
