We All Learn And Grow From What Challenges Us The Most.
January 11, 2024
I hit the gym two to three times a week and work closely with a personal coach. This morning, during my session, something interesting happened.
My coach set me up for an upper body exercise using a 10 Kg weight. I struggled with the weight, managing only a few reps, and started huffing and puffing(a little too animatedly, perhaps). Observing my difficulty, he quickly replaced it with a 5 Kg weight. Immediately, the workout felt way easier, and I could do more repetitions.
After that workout, my coach pulled me aside and said- “Mr. Pramod, while the lighter weight might make you feel better about your performance, the heavier weight gives you a better workout. So, I want you to push your limits.”
His words struck a chord with me.
The bigger the weight, the more the struggle and the better it is for me to build my strength. This is true in the gym and every facet of our lives.
Tackling bigger challenges boosts our resilience.
Solving complex math problems hones our math skills.
Handling challenging team members sharpens our people management skills.
We all learn and grow from what challenges us the most. As my gym coach wisely said, don’t shy away from the difficult situations that make you better. Push your limits !!
