Understand Context
March 6, 2024
There is a Confucian saying that goes something like this: To know where you are today, you need to know where you were yesterday, and to know where you want to go tomorrow, you need to know where you are today.
This wisdom applies very nicely to any sort of decision-making.
A crucial part of making informed decisions is understanding the reasoning behind our previous choices. If we don’t understand how we got here “today,” we risk losing our way to where we want to go. Very likely, we will make things worse.
Bottomline- Great decision-making is all about understanding context- past and present.
