A wannabe martial arts student went to a Shaolin master and asked earnestly, “Master, I am committed to learning your school’s martial arts system. How long will it take me to master it?”
“At least Ten years,” the Master responded matter-of-factly.
Feeling confident in his abilities, the student asked with an air of superiority, ” But I want to master this art more quickly. I will work very hard. I will practice every day, ten hours or more a day if I have to. How long will it take then?”
The Master thought for a moment and replied, ” Twenty years.”
