Regrets Have Value
July 4, 2024
Here’s a little thought exercise for you. If you could look back at your life and change one thing that you regret, what would it be?
Take a moment to think about it. Your answer can give insight into your deepest values.
For example, a regret of not pursuing a different career path could indicate that you value personal fulfillment over security or social approval. Or, the regret of not attempting to mend a broken relationship could indicate that you value relationships over other matters.
While it is useless to dwell on what might have been, regrets are great markers of what you truly value, and they can help you make better decisions in the present and future.
So don’t suppress your regrets. They are valuable for self-reflection and learning about yourself.
