Weekend Story-Waiting For The Better Opportunity

A young man dreamed of marrying the farmer’s beautiful daughter. He mustered up his courage and asked the farmer for her hand in marriage.

The farmer looked him up and down and said, “If you want to marry my daughter, you must pass a test. Go stand in that field. I’m going to release three bulls, one at a time. If you can catch the tail of any of the three, you’ll have my blessing, and my daughter will be happy to marry you.”

Excited and confident, the young man took his place in the field, ready for the challenge.

The barn door creaked open, and a big, mean-looking bull charged out. Its eyes blazed, and it snorted like a beast possessed. The young man’s heart raced. “No way am I tackling this monster,” he thought. He quickly stepped aside, letting the bull thunder past and out the gate.

The barn door opened again. This time, an even bigger and fiercer bull stormed out, shaking the ground as it thundered towards him. The young man’s eyes widened in disbelief. “Surely, the next one will be easier,” he reasoned, and again, he stepped aside, letting the bull bolt out the back gate.

The third door opened, and a smile spread across the young man’s face. Out trotted a weak, skinny bull. “This is it,” he thought, “my chance!” He positioned himself perfectly and leaped at just the right moment.

But as he reached out, he realized to his dismay—this bull had no tail.
