Weekend Story- The Chef’s Soup

A master chef prepared his famous soup for some important guests. The chef took a spoonful of soup to taste, and his face grimaced as he realized he had mistakenly added too much salt. An apprentice helping the chef realized what had happened and suggested throwing the soup away and starting fresh. But the chef smiled and said, “There’s no need for that.”

He reached for a few potatoes, peeled them, and added them to the pot. The potatoes absorbed the excess salt as the soup simmered, balancing the flavors. When the chef served the dish, it was perfect, and the guests praised it as the best soup they’d ever had.

Later, looking at the apprentice, the chef said, “You suggested that we throw away the salty soup and start afresh. When something is too much, you don’t always have to discard it—You can also balance it. Whether in cooking or in life, the answer isn’t always to remove but to add something better.”
