Being Busy Vs Being Valuable

He’s always in back-to-back meetings. Always responding to something.
Always “swamped.”
At first glance, he looks indispensable. But if you take a closer look, there is a lot of activity, but very little tangible progress.
In many workplaces, we confuse activity with impact. A loaded schedule often feels like we are creating value, when in truth, it is a sign that we lack clarity about what is important and what is not.
Sometimes, I feel we stay busy so we don’t have to confront whether we’re being effective. Being busy feels productive.
In contrast, being valuable requires focus, choice, and saying no, even when it’s uncomfortable.
