Helping folks with practical tips to manage themselves better

I Always Knew

i always knew

I always knew.

That is the uncomfortable truth.

Even when I was younger, in my 30s and 40s, when I did things I now look back on as silly, weak, or unnecessary, I knew.

When I said I was busy, but the truth was I was afraid.
When I did not defend someone because silence was easier.
When I joined a conversation I should have walked away from, just to feel included.
When I avoided the difficult thing and later dressed it up as wisdom.

The mind is very clever. It can create reasons, context, explanations, and even moral cover.

But the conscience is not clever. It is simple.

It knows.

That is why some decisions stay with me. Not because the world judged me. But because somewhere inside, I had witnessed myself.

Age has taught me one thing. The real battle is never between right and wrong. We usually know the difference.

The real battle is between what is right and what is convenient.

And even now, I don’t always win.
