Focus On Inputs You Control
April 19, 2026
This is something I don’t tire of saying… to my team, to mentees, to anyone who is willing to listen.
Focus on the inputs you control. The outputs will follow.
Not always. Not guaranteed. But the odds shift in your favour in a big way.
Most of us spend far too much time thinking about what others should do better. The team. The client. The organisation. The system.
It’s easy. Almost natural.
What’s much harder is turning that lens inward.
Asking, what could I have done differently? Where did I miss something? What did I not see?
We are very good at spotting the mistakes of others.
Not as sharp when it comes to observing our own.
And that’s where the real leverage sits. When you focus on your inputs instead of the mistakes of others.
