Helping folks with practical tips to manage themselves better

Faster, Higher, Narrower

faster

The more I think about personal growth, the more I feel it comes down to three things.

Go faster. Hold higher standards. Narrow your focus.

Take speed. Most of us move slower than we need to. We let things sit. We wait for the right moment, the full information, the perfect conditions. Meanwhile, the days pass. Picking up the pace, even a little, changes everything about what you get done.

It is easy to believe we are giving our best. Our intentions are sincere, we are working hard, so surely the quality must be there too. But good intentions are not the same as good work. Unless we hold what we do against a real standard, we have no way of knowing whether it is actually good, or just good enough. Without some honest standard to test ourselves against, good enough can quietly become our definition of good.

And focus. This is the hardest. We spread ourselves thin, chasing everything, going deep on nothing. Narrowing down to the few things that truly matter is where real progress hides.

What makes these powerful is that they are not separate. They feed each other. Move faster on fewer things, held to a higher bar, and the effect compounds. Small improvements in each, multiplied over years, can create a very different trajectory.

The opposite can happen almost without us noticing. We slow down, accept average, and spread ourselves across too many things.

The opportunity is right there, in all three.

Faster. Higher. Narrower.

  • Just what I needed today, plan and conscious focus is what is needed. I really like the point of measuring what’s our ‘good’ with actual standard! Thank You so much for your blog, it feels like talking to a entire community of people, sharing meaningful and real moments.
