Helping folks with practical tips to manage themselves better

As A Man Thinketh

One of the transformational books I was introduced to early in my career was James Allen’s As the Man Thinketh. A book that introduced me to the idea that our mind is the master weaver, capable of creating our inner character as well as helping shape our external world.

As a man thinketh

In the book, there is a passage that goes like this.

“Good thoughts and actions can never produce bad results; bad thoughts and actions can never produce good results. This is but saying that nothing can come from corn but corn, nothing from nettles but nettles.”

Simply put, if you expect to reap corn but plant nettles, you will not get corn-It doesn’t matter how much time you spend watering, fertilizing, or cultivating your plants. If you don’t like the crop you are reaping, you must change the seed you are sowing. The life we are leading today is the sum of our thoughts.

This book taught me early in my career that if I want my life to be a certain way, it starts with my thinking.
