Weekend Story- It’s My Nature
October 9, 2023
Once upon a time, a wise old frog lived in a lush and tranquil forest by the side of a glistening pond. The Frog was known throughout the forest for his wisdom and kindness.
One sunny day, as the Frog was basking in the sun’s warmth, he noticed a scorpion struggling to stay afloat at the water’s edge. The scorpion, aware of the Frog’s reputation for kindness, called out, “Dear Frog, please help me. I can’t swim, and I’m in danger of drowning.”
The Frog, a compassionate soul, was hesitant. He knew that scorpions were known for their venomous stingers and could be pretty dangerous. Noticing the hesitation, the scorpion said, ” I know you are worried, sir, but you don’t have to. Why would I do something that would harm me too?”
The logical words of the scorpion convinced the old Frog, and he made up his mind. “Climb on my back, and I will swim you safely to the other side,” he said.
The scorpion, relieved and grateful, climbed onto the Frog’s back and began their journey across the pond. Everything seemed to be going well, and the Frog was confident he was doing a good deed.
However, halfway across the pond, the Frog suddenly felt a sharp, searing pain in his back. He realized that the scorpion had stung him with its venomous tail.
In shock and pain, the Frog gasped, “Why did you sting me? Now we’ll both drown!”
The scorpion replied sadly, “I’m sorry, dear Frog, but it’s in my nature. I couldn’t help myself.”
