The Limits We Impose On Ourselves
February 12, 2024
Annual budget cycles are fascinating. Different people react differently to the process. Some people approach the process with the idea of practicality and safety. While a few others approach the process from the perspective of possibility and potential.
But what’s behind these two contrasting approaches?
The limits we impose on ourselves end up diminishing our outlook. When our ability to visualize is deterred by limits we impose on ourselves, we settle for what is practical and perceived as achievable.
On the other hand, having a vision allows us to operate beyond any self-imposed limits. Through our mind’s-eye, we can see beyond the present and achieve things that others may consider impossible.
This a fundamental principle of life- we can only achieve what we believe in. Our beliefs manifest as our achievements. If we don’t believe in something, we will never achieve it. Our self-imposed limits define the boundaries for our beliefs, which then shape our actions.
Those grounded in practical realities unconsciously limit their thinking, preventing them from looking beyond their current situation. Their actions are circumspect and uncertain.
However, those with vision are driven by possibilities and believe they can achieve their goals. They are not constrained in their actions. However, the ones with vision are not constrained in their actions because they are driven by the possibilities and believe they can achieve their vision.
