Irony Of Life

Irony

The irony of life. When everything is comfortable, we seek excitement, variety, and challenge. When things get challenging, we seek safety, comfort, and certainty.

But why do we seek excitement and challenge?

If you know something will work, it’s not worth working on because this certainty requires no courage, faith, risk-taking, or skin in the game. Whether you are a teacher, a manager, a monk, a musician, a programmer, or a salesperson, the moments that matter are the moments you create, putting yourself on the line for them. It’s during these moments that we forge our character and define our values.

The unknown is the foundry where we grow and develop. That’s why we instinctively seek out the discomfort of uncertainty—because it’s in those moments of uncertainty that we find significance and meaning in our lives.
