Believe In Your Own Value
April 20, 2024
This past week, I had my global team gather in Kuala Lumpur for our annual retreat. Beyond the strategy sessions and presentations, one of the most valuable aspects was the opportunity to connect with colleagues on a deeper level. Late-night conversations flowed, filled with laughter, shared stories, and aspirations for the future.
One question, posed by a colleague who joined my team recently, particularly resonated: “What advice would you have for me to excel in my role?” he asked.
His question got me thinking, and I shared the following advice with him:
“No matter what your training, skills, or specific role you may be essaying right now, always remember that you are your most important commodity. The most valuable gift you can offer to the organization is you. When you believe in your own value, your approach to everything you do transforms. You are naturally more engaged, more inspired, and more likely to create truly valuable work.
This isn’t about arrogance or ego. It’s about self-belief and recognizing the potential you bring to the table. Own your talents, keep learning and growing, and actively contribute your best self. This would be my advice to you for not just excelling at your job but for creating a real impact.”
