There was once a friend of JRD Tata who constantly complained about losing his pens. So, he always opted to buy cheap pens to avoid fretting over his careless tendency.

JRD Tata had a suggestion for his friend. He told him to buy the costliest pen he could afford and see what happens.

The friend did what JRD Tata advised him to do and bought himself a 22-carat gold Cross pen.

After six months, the two friends met at a social gathering. Curious, JRD Tata asked his friend if he continued to misplace or lose his pens.

The friend sheepishly admitted that he no longer misplaced his pen. Given the cost and value of the Gold Cross Pen, he was very careful about its safety.
