Choose Faith Over Fear
August 1, 2024
This morning, while browsing for some material on the net, I stumbled across this lovely quote by Bob Proctor, a famous leadership coach:
“Faith and fear both demand that you believe in something you cannot see. You choose!”
Faith is easy when everything is going well. It is an imagined belief that everything in your life will turn out as you wish. However, when we face challenges and uncertainty, faith deserts us because we don’t know how things will turn out. Fear takes over the space vacated by faith – fear of negative outcomes, fear of loss, fear of not being able to recover when life knocks you down.
There have been many times when I have faced extreme failure and lost faith, doubting myself. However, deep inside, I found the resolve to turn my fears around and restore faith when I understood that nothing accelerates my learning and growth better than a crisis. I started having faith in my ability to deal with problems, even if I did not know how to deal with them when they initially occurred.
Bob Procter’s quote is so appropriate. Faith and fear are both imagined. Instead of choosing fear, we should default to choosing faith.
