There Is No Perfect Moment
December 21, 2024
I was chatting with a colleague who had recently joined us. In tech sales, getting comfortable with the process can feel overwhelming, so I asked him how things were going with his client conversations.
His reply: “I’m working on getting my product knowledge up to speed so I can start talking to clients.”
It hit me: waiting for the “perfect moment” to start is futile. The difference between those who achieve and those who keep planning is in their willingness to start doing something before feeling ready. The doers are comfortable being uncomfortable, knowing it is a necessary first step to improving at something.
My feedback to my colleague was simple: Overthinking on your product knowledge keeps you stuck. Whether you feel ready or not, take a leap and start having conversations with clients. In tech sales, momentum gets created when you keep your discomfort aside and start having conversations with clients.
