Don’t Think Big Without First Starting Small

Starting small

We change our behavior when the pain of staying the same becomes greater than the pain of changing. Consequences give us the pain that motivates us to change.

Dr. Henry Cloud & Dr. John Townsend

As knowledge workers, we are constantly encouraged to think big and strive for ambitious goals. However, achieving these goals requires us to embrace change and adopt new ways of thinking and working.

Change can be challenging and uncomfortable, but it is necessary for growth and success.

It’s easy to feel overwhelmed by the magnitude of the improvements we seek. But remember, the best way to tackle a daunting task is to break it down into smaller, manageable steps. Focus on the big, but start small. Focus on a few key actions you can take right now that will bring you closer to your goal. Progress doesn’t come from thinking about it; it comes from taking action, one step at a time.

Be mindful not to fall into the trap of thinking big without starting small- by taking small steps and being proactive; we can turn our aspirations into reality.
