Weekend Story- The Two Acrobats
February 18, 2024
Once, in a distant land, a seasoned acrobat and his apprentice, a young girl named Meda, roamed from town to town, performing in the streets to earn enough to eat.
They would take hours to navigate the narrow streets of the old towns, pushing and pulling on the long bamboo poles they used for their aerial stunts. Eventually, they would arrive at a city square where they would anchor their poles as best they could.
Then, the performance would begin.
Meda would climb to the top of the long pole, where she would tumble, balance, and swing to the amusement of spectators. Unfortunately, however, the duo struggled to earn enough money despite all this risk and effort, as the spectators were not very impressed.
One day, the senior acrobat told Meda, “The stunts we do today are not exciting enough for the villagers. We need to take more risks. and create shock value. We must focus fully on each other to do these more dangerous stunts. I will watch you with all my attention to make sure you don’t fall, and you will do the same for me.”
Meda pondered over what her senior said and, after a pause, replied, “I disagree. I think we must focus on ourselves to succeed in the more dangerous stunts. I will focus on myself with my full concentration to make sure I don’t fall, you must do the same for yourself.”
Meda’s wise suggestion caught the senior acrobat off guard, but he was pleased nonetheless, because he understood what Meda said was right. Together, they crafted breathtaking stunts that earned admiration from all who saw them perform.
